UCLA at Texas
Once UCLA got blown out 35-0 by Stanford and dropped to 0-2, many people thought the Bruins were nothing. And with Houston and Texas coming up, people thought UCLA would drop to 0-4. But that didn't happen.
Jonathan Franklin and the UCLA defense dominated as the UCLA Bruins beat Texas 34-12. Texas played their worst game in a long time, turning the ball over 5 times. UCLA took advantage of that to dominate.
Texas scored first, but a muffed punt set up a UCLA touchdown pass. The Bruins then got 2 field goals, and they led 7-3. 2 field goals put them on top 13-3 at halftime, and suddenly Longhorns fans realized they might lose.
UCLA added to their fear as Jonathan Franklin ran 11 yards for a touchdown, and later in the third Kevin Prince found a hole and took it 38 yards for a score. UCLA led 27-6 after 3.
Late in the game, fans were heading for the exits when Texas had 5 minutes left down by 21. Texas finally scored a touchdown, but UCLA answered, winning 34-12. The Bruins are now 2-2.
North Carolina State at Georgia Tech
Russell Wilson was finding his receivers when he needed to as the NC State Wolfpack beat Georgia Tech 45-28.
In a back and forth game, a blocked punt for a touchdown and a field goal gave NC State a 10-0 lead, but Georgia Tech answered. However, a touchdown in the back of the end zone had NC State up 17-7 at the half.
Georgia Tech scored early in the third, but a circle route and a touchdown run by Russell Wilson had the Wolfpack feeling pretty good about themselves. But 2 Tech touchdowns, including a pick-6 had NC State up just 3 with about 11 minutes left.
But Russell Wilson fired a TD pass, and a touchdown run had NC State up 17, and since Georgia Tech couldn't do anything, the Wolfpack had a 45-28 road victory and a 4-0 start.
Oregon State at Boise State
Kellen Moore was able to keep Boise State on top of Oregon State as the Broncos beat Oregon State 37-24 on the blue turf. Moore threw for 288 yards and 3 touchdowns, and he led the Broncos to another big win.
Boise State's defense dominated Oregon State early, and then Boise State drove down to the 6 yard line. Austin Pettis found Tommy Gallarda on an end around touchdown and Boise State led 7-0.
Later in the first, Boise State punted to James Rodgers. Rodgers reversed field, found a hole, and took it for a 54 yard touchdown. Early in the second, Boise made a field goal, and Kellen Moore found Austin Pettis for a touchdown. Boise led 17-7.
Justin Kahut made a field goal for Oregon State, but Boise responded. Kellen Moore found a wide open receiver in the end zone for a touchdown. A missed field goal had Boise ahead 24-10 at the half.
In the third, Jacquizz Rodgers cut the deficit to 7, but a slant route to Tyler Shoemaker gave Boise State a big lead. Oregon State would score, but 2 field goals won the game for Boise 37-24.
Alabama at Arkansas
Robert Lester intercepted 2 passes, Mark Ingram ran for 2 touchdowns as Alabama rallied from a 20-7 deficit to beat Arkansas 24-20 and maintain their number one spot.
50 seconds into the game Ryan Mallett found a wide open Ronnie Wingo for a touchdown, and Arkansas led 7-0. But midway through the quarter Mark Ingram rode good blocking 54 yards for a touchdown. However, Ryan Mallett ran for a touchdown and Arkansas led 17-7 at the half.
Late in the third, Arkansas made a field goal, but Alabama drove downfield. Greg McElroy found Trent Richardson, who did the work from their as the Tide trailed by 6 after 3.
Jeremy Shelley made a 36 yard field goal for Alabama, but Arkansas got the ball back. Then came the turning point of the game.
Robert Lester intercepted Mallett, and he returned the ball to the 12. Mark Ingram ran the ball for a 1 yard touchdown, and Alabama beat Arkansas 24-20.
