Warriors and Kings Draft 09

This year the Golden State Warriors had an O.K draft by drafting Stephen Curry, the nation's leading scorer in 08, but traded their best guard, Jamal Crawford, for Acie Law and Speedy Claxton, 2 horrible players. Monta Ellis is expected to start at PG and Anthony Morrow at SG, but the rookie Curry will most likely share time at the 1 and the 2. Draft Grade: B+ The Kings did better in the draft, drafting Tyreke Evans 4th overall, who did great as a freshman at Memphis, leading the Tigers to the Sweet 16, and they traded Jeff Pendergraph [ the 31st pick] to Portland for future 2nd rounder, Sergio Rodriguez, and Jon Brockman [the 38th pick]. The Kings also drafted Omar Cassipi from Isreal 23rd, making them the first team to draft an Israeli in the first round. Draft Grade: A-

Stanley Cup Finals

Who could have thought? In Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals, the Pittsburgh Penguins were able to hold off the Detroit Red Wings 2-1, gaining revenge on the champs of 07-08. Max Talbot scored both goals in Game 7. During the playoffs, Evgeni Malkin scored 36 goals on his way to becoming playoff MVP. Sidney Crosby also became the youngest captian to hoist the Stanley Cup. The Pens were also only the 4th team to win a Stanley Cup after being down 2-0. The Red Wings won 2, the Penguins won 2, the Red Wings won 1 and the Penguins won 2. With 6 seconds, the Red Wings got off 2 amazing shots but were both stopped by Marc-Andre Fluery. The Pens led 2-0, then the Wings scored, and with around 4-5 minutes left the Red Wings shot one that Fluery missed, but it hit the top of the goal and missed. Bad teams in the past allowed the Pens to draft Malkin, Crosby [captain], Fleury, Jordan Staal, and Max Talbot, who scored both goals. All those players except Talbot are the Penguins

NBA Finals Madness

Swish. Swish. It's...good! That was how Game 1 of the NBA Finals went. The Lakers took full control in the second half, destroying the Orlando Magic 100-75. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers in scoring with 40. Jameer Nelson returned to the Magic after a right shoulder injury Feb. 2 against the Mavericks. He wasn't able to do much as the Lakers took it in a blowout. In advantage for Orlando, the series pattern [including Game 1] goes Lakers, Lakers, Magic, Magic, Magic, Lakers, Lakers, which means Orlando can take Game 2 and wrap 'em up in those 3 home games. Game 2 is Sunday at 8:00 PM ET, 5:00 PM PT.
