San Jose Sharks vs. Detroit Red Wings; NBA Update

Spurs vs. Mavericks
Tim Duncan may not have had a very good reputation for forcing turnovers and being a passer. But tonight he scored 17, grabbed 10 rebounds, had 5 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks. When he got 26 from Manu Ginobli and 21 from George Hill, San Antonio was good to go.

San Antonio ousted 2nd seeded Dallas and Dirk Nowitzki from the playoffs with a 97-87 Game 6 victory. The Spurs won 4 of the last 5 games, including a crucial Game 2 102-88, which was the turning point in the series.

San Antonio plays Phoenix Monday night at 7:00 PM PT.

Suns vs. Trail Blazers
Steve Nash was keyed on. Amare Stoudemire was keyed on. Who is the Phoenix Suns' third man? Think forward who can shoot the jump shot. Jason Richardson.

Richardson nailed 5 3's, scored 28, and helped Phoenix oust Portland 99-90 in 6 games. The Blazers made fantastic efforts in Games 1 and 4, but Richardson scored 28+ in 3 of the 4 games Phoenix won, including a playoff high 42 in the Suns' 108-89 Game 3 win in Portland. Phoenix went 2-1 in Portland.

Phoenix hosts San Antonio Monday night at 10:00 PM ET.

Sharks vs. Red Wings
San Jose is known for having playoff droughts. Against Colorado they lost Game 1 for the 4th straight time, then in Game 3 the Sharks lost because they scored on themselves. But those last 3 games San Jose dominated, outscoring Colorado 10-2 in 5 and 6 and 12-3 in 4, 5, and 6.

And it continued.

Joe Pavelski scored 2 goals, Dany Heatley scored for the first time this playoffs, and a span of 3 goals in 1:19 helped the Sharks overcome a Red Wing rally to beat Detroit 4-3 and win their 4th straight.

The game started off scoreless, but Pavelski beat Wings goalie Jimmy Howard for a goal off a rebound. 56 seconds later Heatley slid one through the right corner of the net. Then Devin Setoguchi scored 23 seconds later, and SJ led 3-0.

However, Daniel Cleary of Detroit scored 1:16 later, and 4:45 into the second period Johan Franzen scored. Evgeni Nabokov stopped all the other Red Wing shots that period, and the score was 3-2 after 2.

0:50 into the third Pavelski scored off a rebound, but Brian Rafalski scored 2:07 later. However Evgeni Nabokov stretched his body out as far as it could go to stop a possible Detroit goal late, and the result was a 4-3 victory and something San Jose hasn't had since 2006-07; a 1-0 series lead.
