Portland Trail Blazers vs. Phoenix Suns

Daniel Carcillo scored the game-winning goal 3:35 into overtime as the Flyers took a 2-1 series lead over the New Jersey Devils with a 3-2 lead.

Ron Artest held Kevin Durant to 24 points and the LA Lakers beat the Thunder 87-79.
Jameer Neslon scored 32 as the Orlando Magic beat the Charlotte Bobcats 98-89 in Game 1.
Dirk Nowitzki scored 36 as the Dallas Mavericks took control of the Spurs late in the fourth to win a 100-94 decision in Game 1.
Portland Trail Blazers vs. Phoenix Suns
Once Brandon Roy was yanked from the lineup because of an injury, most people had Phoenix in 5 or 6 games. Portland didn't give in, however.

Good choice, Blazers.

Andre Miller scored 31, LaMarcus Aldridge scored 22 and the Trail Blazers beat the Phoenix Suns 105-100. The Blazers lead the series 1-0.

Miller and Aldridge scored 4 each early, and Nicholas Batum scored the first 5. The Blazers led 13-6 early on after Aldridge's hook shot. Aldridge made a put back shot and Batum gave Portland a 21-17 lead, but Channing Frye hit 2 threes and Steve Nash made 1 to keep Phoenix close. However, the "Big 3" scored Portland's first 21 and they helped Portland take a 25-24 1st quarter lead.

Leandro Barbosa hit a 3 to put Phoenix up 31-28, and a basket by Louis Admunson gave Phoenix a 33-28 lead and it completed a 25-11 run. However, Martell Webster hit a 3 and Jerryd Bayless made a layup to tie game. However, 2 layups and a 3 by Steve Nash kept Phoenix up 40-35.

LaMarcus Aldridge scored 4 points, and the Blazers took a 41-40 lead on Marcus Camby's short shots. Nicholas Batum then completed a 9-0 run with a 3, but Steve Nash drove in and passed to Leandro Barbosa, who cut the halftime deficit to 44-43 with a 3. And in the beginning of the3rd Phoenix kept going. Jason Richardson tied the game at 52 with a 3, and after a Grant Hill basket the Suns led 56-52.

However, Rudy Fernandez answered and put Portland back up by 2. Marcus Camby hit a long jumper, and passing helped keep Portland in the game. Jerryd Bayless tied the game with 4 straight, but a Channing Frye jumper put Phoenix up 72-70 after 3. Bayless finished off his 9 point run with a 3 point play as the Blazers took a 75-72 lead.

But Jared Dudley hit a 3 that put Phoenix back on top, and Goran Dragic scored 6 to give Phoenix an 85-83 lead. But Andre Miller soon nailed a wide open three that put Portland on top 88-87, and 4 free throws made it 92-89. A tip-in by Aldridge gave Portland a 5 point lead. Steve Nash made a 3, but passing got the ball to Nicholas Batum, who hit a 3.

Bayless hit 2 free throws to make it 99-92, and Bayless put Portland up by 5 with a FT with :37. Aldridge hit a foul shot, and 2 by Miller had Portland up 103-97 with :17 left. However, Jason Richardson made a 3 and Bayless missed 2 free throws. Phoenix had a shot!

But Steve Nash missed a 3 short, and Andre Miller hit 2 free throws to prove that Portland can win the series and make it interesting. The Blazers won 105-100. Game 2 is Tuesday night at
7:00 PM PT in Phoenix and Game 3 is Thursday at the same time in Portland.

NFL: Thr Philadelphia Eagles acquired linebacker Ernie Sims from Detroit in a 3 team deal. The Broncos were the other team. The Eagles got a fitting linebacker in Sims, and the Lions acquired tight end Tony Scheffler from Denver. Scheffler is a tough tight end who is good in late game situations. Denver got a fifth round pick from Philadlphia. This is Denver's second deal in 4 days, when they traded star receiver Brandon Marshall to Miami for a second round pick this year and next year.
