Giants vs Phillies

Buster Posey hadn't done that much in the postseason for the Giants number 4 hitter. Maybe that was because it was his first postseason appearance or something, but that would need to be changed.

And it did.

Posey had 4 hits, 2 RBI's and the double that set up the game-winning run as the Giants stunned the Phillies 6-5. Aubrey Huff scored the game-winning run on a sac fly by Juan Uribe.

In the bottom of the first, Freddy Sanchez singled and advanced 2 bases on 2 wild pitches. Buster Posey hit a single right up the middle, and the Giants had a 1-0 lead.

Jimmy Rollins got a base hit in the top of the second, but he was caught stealing after Aubrey Huff threw it to Edgar Renteria, who made a great tag. In the third Madison Bumgardner struck out Carlos Ruiz and Joe Blanton, adding to his strikeout total of 5.

After 2 straight outs Aubrey Huff hit a line drive into right field for a single, and then the rookie came up. Posey blasted a hanging curveball just over the glove of Ben Francisco as the Giants took a 2-0 lead.

But after Madison Bumgardner got out of a jam in the fourth inning he got into another one. Shane Victorino hit an RBI single, and Ben Francisco scored, but Buster Posey struck again. HE made a terrific play to tag Carlos Ruiz out at the plate, leaving the game at 2-1.

Santiago Casilla came in, and he threw a perfect pitch to hit for Placido Polanco. Polanco hit it deep into left center field, knocking in 2 runs and giving the Phillies a 3-2 lead. A wild pitch made it 4-2 Phillies.

Andres Torres walked in the 5th, and after he made it to second Aubrey Huff hit a single right up the middle and Torres came around to score, making it a 4-3 game. Although Huff wouldn't score the Giants would cut the deficit in half.

After a 1-2-3 sixth the Giants struck again. Pat Burrell walked, then Cody Ross hit a double down the left field line. Pablo Sandoval, who hadn't made a difference in the playoffs or the pennant, hit a 1-2 pitch into left center field for a 2 run double. The Giants led 5-4.

Shane Victorino walked against Javier Lopez in the seventh, but after a pop-up and a double-play by Placido Polanco the Giants got out of the inning. San Francisco loaded the bases in the seventh, but a double play by Pablo Sandoval ended the inning.

Ryan Howard came up to start the eighth, and he hit a double off of Lopez. Lopez came out, and Sergio Romo came in, and he pitched a hanging slider to Jayson Werth. Werth hit a double down the left field line, Howard scored and the game was tied 5-5.

In the bottom of the eighth Andres Torres singled, but he was caught stealing second and Edgar Renteria struck out. In the ninth Brian Wilson came on, and forced a groundout and got Shane Victorino chasing a curveball. Chase Utley hit a deep shot, but not deep enough. Cody Ross caught it to end the inning.

In the bottom of the ninth Aubrey Huff hit a one out single, and then Buster Posey came up. He hit a hanging breaking ball down the right field line. However, Jayson Werth made a great play to save Huff from scoring, and Juan Uribe came up.

On a 1-2 count, Roy Oswalt decided to give Juan Uribe a hanging curveball. Uribe was able to get under the ball and blast it into left field. It wasn't a home run. In fact, it was caught by Ben Francisco. But Huff tagged up from third, and he scored the game-winning run. The Giants had won!

San Francisco leads the series 3-1 with Tim Lincecum facing Roy Halladay tonight at 5 PM PT.
