Stnaley Cup Finals; Perfect Game Robbed By Ump

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Philadelphia Flyers
It was time the Flyers got back into this series. It was time they made it even. And when Game 3 went into OT, they knew they had their chance.

Claude Giroux scored off a rebound 5:59 into OT as the Flyers beat the Blackhawks 4-3 in OT Wednesday night. Game 4 is Friday night in Philadelphia.

Danny Briere finally got the puck past Antti Neimi 14:58 into the first period, and Philly led 1-0 after 1. However, Duncan Keith knew that the game wasn't over, and he scored early into the second period.

But Philadelphia again took advantage of a power play. This time it was Scott Hartnell who scored on the power play, and the Flyers regained a 1 goal lead.

However, center John Madden found Brent Sopel to get the puck past Michael Leighton to tie the game, and give Chicago the momentum. 2:50 into the third period, Patrick Kane scored and Chicago had a 3-2 lead.

But that wouldn't last long. Philadelphia quickly got the puck in their offensive zone, and Ville Leino scored 20 seconds after Kane's goal. Although Chicago would get some good third period chances, the game went into OT.

Philadelphia found the net early, but Simon Gagne's goal was called off because his skate was in the crease. This left Flyers fans booing like crazy, but it wouldn't matter.

Philadelphia had the puck in their offensive zone, and after a missed shot, Claude Giroux poked the puck under Antti Neimi for the GW goal as Philadelphia made the series 2-1 with a win.

MLB Update: Armando Gallaraga was robbed of a perfect game after a blown call at first base with 2 outs in the ninth inning.

Gallaraga had a perfect game through 9 and 2/3 of an inning, and Jason Donald hit a grounder. Gallaraga was forced to cover first base, and he beat the runner by half a step. But 1st base ump Jim Joyce called safe, and Gallraga settled for a 1-hitter.

It would have been the second perfect game in 4 days, 3rd in under a month, and 21st perfect game in history.

The Detroit Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians 3-0 in this game.
