Possible NBA Trades; USA vs. Ghana

When the draft comes, trades are made. Big trades. Franchise-defining trades. But, we can start with the rookie trades. So, here are some possible trades that could happen in the NBA! Also, we have some draft analysis.

76ers and Kings
The 76ers and the Wizards could have made a swap in picks, but I think Phillly should have either stayed where they were or traded back so they could get DeMarcus Cousins at 5. The Kings would have been willing to trade up to #2 to get Evan Turner, an amazing all-around player, and give up someone else that they don't really need, like Ime Udoka and Jon Brockman. In return, they would get a 76ers bench player, or they would get 2 M or something in cash.

New Jersey Nets; Draft Analysis
Derrick Favors is a reach. His career high is 22 points, and he averages 12 PPG. He does average 8 RPG, and he is really athletic, but I just don't understand why the Nets picked him. And the 76ers were considering picking him! They just should have made the deal I just put up there. I think he would be a good fit for Toronto, or maybe Detroit, not Golden State, he's small, same with the Kings. I think he should have gone 13 to Toronto to fill in Chris Bosh's hole, assuming he leaves for Miami or Chicago or someone else. Maybe Detroit could have got him at 7, but I like Greg Monroe more. Although he probably would have been off the board by then.

Picks number 28 and 29 were completely different. With number 28, the Memphis Grizzles got a player of the year candidate, a guy who averages 20 PPG, 6 APG, 5 RPG, and is almost as good as Evan Turner. He may not be as ready to play in the NBA, but he is still better than Derrick Favors. Vasquez will start off as a 6th man in Memphis, and then he will become a starter. This is how I think the first 3 picks should have went:
1 Wizards-Evan Turner, Ohio State
2 76ers-John Wall, Kentucky
3 Nets-Grevis Vasquez, Maryland

Nets and Grizzles
Here's what should happen for Avery Johnson's club (Nets). They should make a deal where they ship Derrick Favors to Memphis for Grevis Vasquez, and since Favors is worth more, either the Grizz throw in some cash, or Mike Conley and Jamaal Tinsley pack their bags for New Jersey and Courtney Lee gets shipped to Memphis. This deal would give Memphis a big man to go with Marc Gasol, plus a 6th man guard, while the Nets would get a guard to go with Devin Harris. It would be a great 1-2 guard punch for the Nets, because Devin Harris wouldn't be completely covered, they would have to guard Vasquez. For Memphis, it wouldn't be double-teams on Marc Gasol.

Orlando Magic; Draft Analysis
And for pick 29, the Magic wasted their draft. They had Andy Rautins. They had Da'Sean Butler. Devin Ebanks. Landry Fields. Darington Hobson. Jarvis Varnado. Lance Stephenson. And they go for Daniel Orton?! Orton averages 3 PPG, 3 RPG, and 1 APG. The best thing about him is that he has the second most blocks on Kentucky. He only plays 15 minutes, he could have been Top 10 or 15 if he stayed at Kentucky, but now he is the 5th best Kentucky player in the 2010 NBA Draft. Terrible pick Magic.

Knicks and Nets
I like the pick by the Knicks to get Andy Rautins. But the Knicks getting Landry Fields right after they got Rautins? They play the exact same position, and Rautins is better. He looks the court better, he can drive to the hoop better, he shoots better, and he passes better. The Knicks should trade him to the Nets if that Grevis Vasquez deal doesn't work out, or if it is never thought of. Fields could make a great 1-2 punch with Landry Fields, or he could become a valuable 6th man. Maybe the Nets opponents would still key on Devin Harris, but then Landry Fields could become a great player. The Knicks wouldn't need him (Fields) and he could become good in New Jersey.

USA vs. Ghana
Asamoah Gyan scored the GW goal early in extra time as Ghana advanced to the kncokout round with a 2-1 win over the USA. Ghana will play Uruguay for a berth in the semifinals.

Kevin-Prince Boateng scored with 2 defenders on him in the 5th minute, and the score was 1-0 up to the 60th minute. But Clint Dempsey drew a penalty kick, and Landon Donovan nailed it off the crossbar to tie the game at 1. The game would go into extra time.

The USA had the better team, and the momentum, but Ghana had a breakaway. Again, the US had 2 defenders on, but that didn't matter to Asamoah Gyan.

Gyan got up to a charging Tim Howard, and he kicked the ball high. It looked as if it would hit the top of the net or the crossbar, then it came down a little. A little was all Ghana needed.

The ball went in the net, and Ghana became just the 3rd African nation to advance to the Quarterfinals. Ghana will play Uruguay, who also won 2-1 on a late goal.

Prediction: Uruguay 2, Ghana 1

World Cup Update: Thomas Mueller scored 2 late goals for the Germans as a blown call haunted the Three Lions in Germany's 4-1 win over England. Germany will play the winner of Argentina against Mexico.
