Lakers vs. Celtics; Pac-10 Expands

Lakers vs Celtics
Every time the Celtics step on the court, they know that every player can be a star and be a key to a victory. This is one thing Glen Davis always knew.

And he always will.

Davis scored 9 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter, and the Celtics evened up the NBA Finals with a 96-89 win over the Lakers. Game 5 is Sunday night in Boston.

The Lakers bench got 10 from Lamar Odom, but they finished with only 18 bench points. Davis scored as many points off the bench as the Lakers did, and Nate Robinson also scored 12. Rasheed Wallace and Tony Allen each scored 3, and the C's bench combined to double the Lakers bench.

Paul Pierce scored 19 for Boston, and he had 6 boards and 5 dimes. KG scored 13, and Ray Allen broke out of a shooting slump to score 12. Kobe scored 33 for the Lakers, and Pau Gasol scored 21, but it wasn't enough.

For the Lakers, Bryant and Gasol have stepped up and scored 20+ points, but no one else has helped them. Lamar Odom is now on the bench, Andrew Bynum scored 2 and Ron Artest scored 9. LA won Game Three because Kobe and Gasol stepped up, and Derek Fisher scored 11 in the fourth to carry the Lakers.

On the other hand, Paul Pierce is scoring enough points to win, and he has been the Celtics MVP so far. KG played great in Game Three, but they lost because they only got 2 from Ray Allen. Glen Davis has stepped up, Rajon Rondo has averaged 13.3 PPG and 7.3 APG, and KG has scored in double-digits each game.

Prediction: Lakers in 6.

Pac-10 Adds Colorado
Colorado accepted an invitation to join the Pacific-10 Conference Thursday morning. The Buffaloes will begin play in the conference in 2012.

Coincidentally, Cal hosts Colroado in 2010 and plays in Boulder in 2011, and the Buffaloes and Arizona State had a home and home series in 06-07 and 07-08 (ASU won 33-14 and 21-3).

Texas and Texas A&M are also expected to join the Pac-10, and that would probably open the door for Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State.

Mets ace throws 1-hitter
Jonathan Neise of the NY Mets threw a one-hitter Thursday afternoon at Citi Field. Neise had no walks, and the only hit he allowed was a leadoff double by Chris Denorfia in the third. He threw 2 perfect innings to start, and 6 2/3 perfect innings to finish the game.
