Seattle Mariners vs New York Mariners: C.C, Yankees Dominate, Extend Mariners Losing Streak to 17

The Seattle Mariners have gone through a lot of pain. For instance, sixteen straight losses.

C.C Sabathia did nothing to help that.

Sabathia struck out 14 in 7+ innings of work, Mark Texiara and Curtis Granderson homered and the Yankees extended Seattle's losing streak to 17 with a 4-1 triumph.

The game was scoreless until Curtis Granderson went yard, an opposite-field shot barely clearing the left field wall. But the focus was on C.C.

Sabathia struck out seven in a row at one point, and he retired the first nineteen batters. While he was on his game, New York gave him two more runs.

In the sixth, Sabathia struck out Mike Carp on a bouncer, then the game was delayed due to rain, for about 30 minutes. But it didn't disrupt C.C.

Sabathia got Greg Halman to pop up and Chone Figgins to ground out to short. In the seventh, he got Ichiro Suziki, who looked nothing like Ichiro, to strike out on a breaking ball.

But while he was cruising, Brendan Ryan was on a streak himself. He hit a pitch from C.C over Derek Jeter's head into left-center, breaking up the no-hitter.

C.C was still going, however, and he struck out Dustin Ackley and Miguel Olivo on low pitches, stranding the runner. However, a second delay would affect Sabathia.

The Yankee ace walked the first three batters, and David Robertson came in, striking out Adam Kennedy on a full-count changeup in the dirt.

Chone Figgins worked another 3-2 count, and he hit a ground ball to third baseman Eric Chavez, who bobbled the ball, but picked it up to get the sure out at third.

Ichiro came up as a chance to play hero, but he struck out looking on a fastball, ending the threat. Mariano Rivera went 1-2-3 in the ninth to preserve the win.

Sabatahia got his 15th win of the season, and the Yankees extended Seattle's franchise-high losing streak to 17 games and counting. The Yankees only allowed one hit.

New York is two games behind the Red Sox, and they play the Mariners again at 1:05 ET Wednesday afternoon.
