All-Star Game: Dominant Pitching, Three-run Bomb Carry National League to Second Straight Win

Prince Fielder was booed by fans from his own league heading into the All-Star game. After the All-Star game, Arizona fans might want to change their opinions.

Fielder's three-run bomb gave the National League a 3-1 lead and helped the NL to a 5-1 win, their second straight. Andre Either and Pablo Sandoval knocked in runs.

Although the only batter he faced got a hit, Tyler Clippard got the win, C.J Wilson got the loss, and Brian Wilson got the save. The National League allowed just six hits.

Four of those hits were in one inning, as with two outs in the fourth and a no-hitter going for the National League, Cliff Lee gave up a home run to Adrian Gonzalez. Two hits followed, and Lee was out.

Tyler Clippard came in, and although he gave up a hit to Adrian Beltre, Hunter Pence got Jose Bautista out at the plate, and the NL was out of a jam. They would strike back, however.

After Carlos Beltran and Matt Kemp singled, Prince Fielder hit an outside slider deep to left-center field, where the ball hit the top of the fence and went over. The NL led 3-1.

Later in the game, Andre Either and Pablo Sandoval knocked in runs, as Sandoval golfed a pitch for a run-scoring double and Either hit an inside pitch for an RBI single.

With another win, the NL champion will benefit, as whatever team wins the league will take home-field advantage for the World Series.

Prince Fielder and the Brewers have a legit shot a a title, and Fielder's MVP-winning performance helped the Brewers. Another thing that helped was a trade for Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez, which will boost Milwaukee's chances of a World Series title.

Brian Wilson got two outs for the save, forcing Paul Konerko to ground out to short to end the game. Heath Bell, Craig Kimbrel, Roy Halladay, Jonny Venters, Tyler Clippard, Cliff Lee, Clayton Kershaw, Jair Jurrjens, Joel Hanrahan and Wilson pitched for the victors.
