Bucks at Warriors

The Golden State Warriors knew they needed someone to step up down the stretch in a close game and provide them with a needed spark. And of course, that someone would be Monta Ellis.

Ellis scored 8 of the Warriors' last 10 points to finish with 24 as Golden State survived Milwaukee 100-94. Stephen Curry and Dorell Wright added 16 for Golden State as well.

After spotting a 4-0 lead, Milwaukee went on a 15-4 run to take the biggest lead of the game by either team, 15-8. Although the Warriors cut the deficit to 22-18 after 1, they could not stop Ersan Illysova, who scored 15 in the first quarter and finished with 23.

Another big first quarter play was when Dorell Wright got ahead on a fastbreak and Stephen Curry heaved the ball 3 quarters of the court to Wright, who made a backwards layup. Many dunks were seen from Golden State.

Vladimir Radmonavic and Reggie Williams each drilled 3's to spark a 15-5 run that got Golden State ahead by 6, but Milwaukee regained the lead and even a 3 by Vladimir and 6 from Monta (in the last 6:28) weren't enough to get the halftime edge.

The Bucks went up by 5, but 2 shots from beyond the arc by Wright and a 3 from Curry had Golden State within one. However, they would start turning the ball over and giving Milwaukee a 6 point lead, one that would take until the next quarter to take over. But Golden State was only down by one, for Monta Ellis drilled a shot from 3 point land. Little did the Warriors know that an avalanche of 3's were coming down.

Wright tied the game with a 3 from the wing, then Reggie Williams got it at the corner twice and made it both times. The Warriors held an 81-79 lead at the time, but a 3 by Keyon Dooling put Milwaukee back on top 82-81 with 7:39 left.

A tip shot by David Lee got the Warriors in command 83-82, but Milwaukee went back on top with a bucket by Corey Maggette. Then Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis took control of the game.

Curry nailed a 3 from the wing, and after Maggette tied the game he hit another jumper. There was no answer from Maggette or Milwaukee, so Ellis got a screen and drove to the hoop, beating 3 Bucks to take a 90-86 lead. On their next offensive play Curry found Ellis wide open on the corner, and Ellis took it to the hoop and dunked it. With 1:15 left Vladimir Radmonavic made a running jumper to give Golden State a 94-88 lead.

However, Milwaukee would cut that to 94-92, so the game was in the hands of Monta Ellis. The shot clock read :10 when Ellis put up a wide open jumper. Luckily for Warriors fans, the shot went in. But on the next play Maggette, a former Warrior, made a tough jumper to make it 96-94.

Now Stephen Curry owned control of the game. He was fouled and made 2 free throws, and after Keyon Dooling air-balled a 3 and Monta Ellis made 2 more free throws, the game was locked up. Golden State improved to 21-27, while Milwaukee dropped to 19-29.
