Duke at Virginia Tech (brief) Is it just me, or does the number one team lose often? Jeff Allen scored 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as Virginia Tech rallied from down 6 to beat Duke and increase their NCAA Tournament chances. The Hokies got double digit scoring from every starter. The game went back and forth, with Virginia Tech leading 42-37 early in the half but a 14-3 run by Duke changing the score to a 6 point lead for the Blue Devils. With only 6:34 left Duke led 53-47. But the Hokies were determined to pick up a quality win, and a 3 by Jeff Allen and Terrell Bell tied the game at 55. 2 free throws by Bell gave VT the lead, and another layup by Allen finished off the 12-2 run. Duke cut the lead in half, only to watch Malcolm Delaney make a 3 pointer and give Virginia Tech a 62-57 lead. NBA Trades Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups were traded to the New York Knicks for Timothy Mosgov, Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Kosta Koufos and others. Shelden Williams, Renaldo Balkman and Corey Brewer were sent to New York as well. The deal works out well for New York because they still have guard Landry Fields, and of course, Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo. If those 2 can step up, then New York could be dominant. Denver gets Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton and other players to start over and build a successful team. If these 3 click with J.R Smith, Nene and other Nuggets players, Denver could emerge as a force. Deron Williams was traded to the New Jersey Nets for Devin Harris, Derrick Favors and draft picks. Williams, a player who could light up crowds and the Jazz, is now expected to do that in New Jersey, who is in rebuilding mode. 2 Texas, 4 Pittsburgh fall Nebraska rallied from down 9 and held on to beat #2 Texas 70-67 and end the Longhorns' 11 game Big 12 win streak. Toney McCray helped Nebraska take the lead, then Brandon Richardson and Eshaunte Jones took the load. 2 layups by Richardson gave Nebraska an 8 point lead, and after Texas made it a 52-47 game, Eshaunte Jones drilled a 3 from the corner. 4 minutes later Jones struck again and made it a 60-49 game, which seemed to put the game out of reach. However, with less than 2 minutes left Texas went on a scoring rampage 7 points in 15 seconds by Jordan Hamilton cut the deficit to 65-60, and 2 free throws, an offensive rebound, another basket and a steal tied the game at 65 with over a minute to go. The Simpsons has been running for 22 years now and has produced 477 quality episodes, but only a few can stand out as the greatest Simpsons episodes ever. So here is my list. 10. The Bob Next Door, Season 21: Bart's enemy Sideshow Bob returns and moves in next door to the Simpsons with a re-attached face. No one except for Bart knows that "Walt Warren", his cellmate's name, is really Sideshow Bob. But when Bart sees Walt Warren in Bob's cell, he finally believes that Bob is locked up. Bob invites Bart to a baseball game, and Bart accepts the ticket and the 2 head off. While on the drive, Bart learns that he was right all along and Sideshow Bob is taking him to the Five Corners to kill him. Although Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers both have very different styles of play, they both have one thing in common; the 2 Packer QB's won a Super Bowl title. So Aaron Rodgers should be free of the Brett Favre questions. Rodgers threw for 304 yards and 3 touchdowns, Nick Collins returned an interception back for a touchdown and Green Bay beat Pittsburgh 31-25 to take a 4th championship to Titletown. Greg Jennings was on the receiving end of 2 touchdowns, while Jordy Nelson caught the other and overcame 3 dropped passes, 4 by Green Bay. Although Pittsburgh went 3 and out, they seemed to have the early advantage when Tramon Williams muffed a punt. But Green Bay recovered, and although they couldn't score on their first drive, James Starks was able to pick up 2 first downs and get Green Bay into Pittsburgh territory on drive 2, where Rodgers found Nelson deep for a 29 yard scoring strike. The Golden State Warriors knew they needed someone to step up down the stretch in a close game and provide them with a needed spark. And of course, that someone would be Monta Ellis. Ellis scored 8 of the Warriors' last 10 points to finish with 24 as Golden State survived Milwaukee 100-94. Stephen Curry and Dorell Wright added 16 for Golden State as well. After spotting a 4-0 lead, Milwaukee went on a 15-4 run to take the biggest lead of the game by either team, 15-8. Although the Warriors cut the deficit to 22-18 after 1, they could not stop Ersan Illysova, who scored 15 in the first quarter and finished with 23. Another big first quarter play was when Dorell Wright got ahead on a fastbreak and Stephen Curry heaved the ball 3 quarters of the court to Wright, who made a backwards layup. Many dunks were seen from Golden State. Vladimir Radmonavic and Reggie Williams each drilled 3's to spark a 15-5 run that got Golden State ahead by 6, but Milwaukee regained the lead...

While some teams are basking at great performances, others are aggressive to even get in the playoffs. However, we have learned a lot of things this season. For starters, we learned that LeBron James was Cleveland's whole team. After starting out OK, the sluggish Cavs went on losing streaks of 10 and 21 games, the longer one still going. It is clear that Cleveland's talent is tapering. And although LeBron has not accomodated Cleveland, he has sure helped Miami. Miami is now 34-14 and at second place in the Eastern Conference. At first they concealed their talent, going only 9-8. But after 8 and 10 game winning streaks the Heat are rolling, leaving carcasses of opponents behind. The Los Angeles Lakers started 8-0 and 13-2 and looked ready to slither through opponents, but it was the San Antonio Spurs who came out strong.
