NBA Update

Miami vs Washington
When crunch time arrives, these players haven't really shown up. Maybe it was the inexperience, but 11 wins later they were ready. And their ability not to give up paid off.

The end result; 12 straight wins.

LeBron James scored 32 and Dwyane Wade hit 2 free throws late to power Miami to a 95-94 win over Washington and their 12th straight win, improving their record to 21-8. Chris Bosh stepped up late as well.

We pick it up with Washington leading 89-83. Joel Anthony was fouled and drained one of 2 free throws, leaving Washington with a 5 point lead, the ball and about 1:30 left. But LeBron came up big again, with a huge steal and dunk to make it a 2 point game.

The Wizards took a 91-86 lead, and after some nice defense the clock had just about 30 seconds on it. But that was plenty of time for the Heat.

LeBron took the ball at the top of the key. He drew Chris Bosh's defender away, leaving Bosh open. James found Bosh, who drained the 3 and cut the deficit to 91-89. Then Miami fouled Josh Howard, who drilled the first free throw.

He missed the second, but he got his own rebound and made one of 2 again to give the Wizards a 93-89 lead. However, Bosh responded, pump faking and drawing a foul on the Wizards in 3 point territory. He pocketed 2 of the free throws, making it a one point game.

Then the defense came up big. LeBron and teammate James Jones knocked the ball out of Wizards PG Nick Young's hand, and Jones got fouled. After he made 2 free throws, the game was tied. However, one Wizards point later, Washington held a 94-93 lead.

With just 12 seconds left, Miami drew up the play and got going. Dwyane Wade saw an opening, and he took the ball to the hoop. He missed, but Wade drew a foul. The 72% free throw shooter made 2 free throws, to give Miami a 1 point lead.

Wizards guard Kirk Hinrich drove to the hoop and got close to the basket, but the Heat double-teamed him and he threw up an air ball. Dwyane Wade heaved the ball in the air to end the game, keeping Miami's win streak alive and giving them a huge win.

Keys to the W: Free throws: In the last minute, the Heat made 6 of 7 free throws, including Jones' tying shots and Wade's winning FT's. On the other side, Josh Howard went 2-4 and Kirk Hinrich only made 1 of 2. The inability to finish on free shots is the little difference that dropped Washington to 6-20 and kept the Heat's win streak going.

Other close games:

New York at Cleveland
With 4 seconds left, Mo Williams received a screen and drove to the hoop. He made a 4 foot jumper sending the game into OT, where the Cavaliers handed the Knicks their third straight loss and they ended a 10 game losing streak.

Los Angeles Clippers at Chicago
The Clips led by 7 entering the final minute, but Derrick Rose helped the Bulls cut the lead to 2. Rose took a drive to the hoop and was fouled with .8 seconds left, and he drilled the first shot. However, the second shot clanged off the rim, handing the Bulls a heart-breaking loss.

College Basketball
USC at Kansas
Trailing 64-62, freshman Josh Selby was open in the corner. He received a pass and drilled a 3 to give the Jayhawks a 65-64 lead. Then, the Jayhawks trailed by 2, but after Josh Selby's man was drawn away by the point guard Selby received a pass and drained a 3 from the wing, helping Kansas survive USC 70-68. Selby scored 21 in his Kansas debut.

Trade News: Magic Acquire Gilbert Arenas, Hedo Turkoglo, and Jason Richardson and trade Rashard Lewis to the Wizards, while dealing Vince Carter and Marcin Gortat to the Suns.
