NFL Recap

Texans at Jaguars
Mike Thomas wasn't even a receiver on the final play. He was really just a decoy trying to erase one of the Texan players. But when Glover Quin batted the ball into Thomas' hands, he was fine with that.

Thomas caught the pass and ran a yard into the end zone to win the game for Jacksonville as the Jags avoided a 14 point rally and improved to 5-4. Maurice Jones-Drew scored 2 touchdowns for the Jaguars.

On the game's opening drive the Jaguars used a mix of runs and passes to get down to the 20 yard line, where Josh Scobee would boot a 38 yard field goal. Matt Schaub and the Texans had the same kind of success, with passing setting up a 24 yard field goal.

But after 2 punts, Jacksonville came back. Maurice Jones-Drew would freeze and run, just go, it didn't matter. The end result of the drive was a MJD touchdown that put the Jags on top 10-3.

The Jaguars got great field position after just a 20 yard punt by Houston, and Maurice Jones-Drew took advantage, ripping through the Texan defense for chunks of yardage. At the 9 yard line, MJD ran up the middle, made a slight cut to the right, then sped into the end zone to make it 17-3.

But on the opening second-half drive, the Texans cut the deficit in half. A 60 yard bomb set up an Arian Foster TD, and the score was just 17-10. With the momentum on their side, the Texan defense stopped Jacksonville.

The momentum was carried over to the offense, who would not fail. With a mix of runs and passes, the Texans drove to the 9, where Schaub found Andre Johnson in the left corner of the end zone. With that, the game was tied at 17.

But the Jags would respond, driving down to the 21. Jaguar nation was thinking lead when the normally sure-footed Scobee came on, but he missed the kick wide right. The momentum went back to Houston.

But this time, the Jags were ready. The D came up huge with a stop and the offense was on with the momentum. And David Garrard executed. He led the Jags to the 48, where he hit a wide open Zach Miller down the left sideline. Miller got a block, then he raced into the end zone to give the Jaguars the lead.

But Matt Schaub took the workload and led Houston right back. With 4:19 left, Kevin Walter ran a slant into the end zone, and Matt Schaub put it right there. Walter held on then let go, and the ball dropped. The pass was ruled incomplete, but it was challenged by Gary Kubiak. The call was overturned, and the game was even at 24.

The Texans were driving with 8 seconds left and Neil Rackers was getting ready for a field goal when Sean Condinsine stripped the ball from Texan receiver Joel Dresser and Justin Durant recovered. With 3 seconds left the Jags were at midfield.

Garrard heaved up a pass, and it was tipped by Texan DB Glover Quin. However little Mike Thomas was ready, and he hauled in the pass. The Jaguars had won!
