College Football Recap

Arkansas at Mississippi State
Ryan Mallett and Arkansas are kind of used to these big games. So when them and 21st ranked Mississippi State were sent into double-overtime, the Razorbacks were ready.

Knile Davis rushed for 187 yards and 2 scores, Mallett fired 3 TD's as Arkansas survived Mississippi State to set up a huge match-up between LSU and Arkansas.

Arkansas got the ball first, but they failed to make something happen. Then Mississippi State got a chance, and they struck. Chris Relf hit Brandon Henderson for a 29 yard pass completion, then he ran for a TD.

However, once Knile Davis got another chance, he succeeded. He found a hole, and took it. Davis scored, and that tied the game up at 7. Then the Razorbacks got a stop, and the momentum continued to live with Arkansas.

Then Davis took over again, gaining 40 yards and setting up a 4th and 1. Mallett hit D.J Williams for a 5 yard gain, then he fired a 25 yard scoring strike to Williams.

Mississippi State took their chances, and in a big game, they went for it on 4th and 3 from their own 37. The gamble paid off, and Chris Relf led the Bulldogs to the tying score.

The Razorbacks were unable to swing the momentum, and Relf led the Dawgs to another score. Arkansas would get a field goal, set up by a 32 yard completion from Mallett to Williams, but Mississippi State led 21-17 at the half.

Midway through the 3rd quarter, Arkansas got the ball at the 44 yard line. But Mallett was intercepted, and Mississippi State got the ball to the 28 yard line of Arkansas. Vic Ballard picked up 6 yards on a run, but Elton Ford forced a fumble. Arkansas recovered, and on their first play, Mallett hit Jarius Wright for a 89 yard scoring strike.

After the Bulldogs went 3 and out, Mallett led the 'Hogs to the one. Davis pounded the ball in, and the Razorbacks seemed to have the game in their hands.

Things didn't get much better for Mississippi State. They were forced to 3rd and 11, but Relf hit Chad Bumphis for 21 yards. The Bulldogs scored a touchdown, and they were still in the game.

Arkansas was forced to 3rd and 8 at their own 49, and Knile Davis took a carry. He fumbled the ball, and the Bulldogs recovered. They picked up a field goal, and the game went into OT.

Mississippi State got the ball first, and they got to the 14 yard line. Then Vic Ballard got a carry, and he got down to the 1. But while trying to dive for the score, Jerico Nelson forced a fumble. But after a 38 yard field goal sailed wide left, the game went into 2OT.

Mallett hit Jarius Wright for 16 yards to the 9, then after a 2 yard run, Mallett threw a short pass to Davis. Davis sprinted into the end zone, and the 'Hogs had a 7 point lead.
