NFL Recap

Cardinals vs Vikings
In a game filled with mistakes, sloppy plays, bad quarterback calls and nearly no offense from one team, somehow teams scored points and made it close. But for 2 teams that won their division and won a playoff game last year, you wouldn't expect this.

But, these teams have changed.

Brett Fsvre led the Vikings from down 14 to beat the Cardinals with 2 fourth quarter touchdown drives as Arizona fell to 3-5 and Minnesota improved to 3-5. Both teams are struggling, but both are still in the race for the division title.

Early in the game Favre led the Vikings to midfield, but he threw an intercpetion. Kerry Rhodes intercepted the pass and seemed to have a touchdown, but Viking WR Greg Camarillo never gave up. He stripped the ball, and it went into the back of the end zone for a touchback.

However, on the ensuing kickoff Larod Stephens Howling got some blocks, moved to the left of kicker Ryan Longwell and he was gone. 13 seconds after a 7-0 Vikes lead, the score was even at 7.

On the next drive, the Vikings used another offensive weapon. Toby Gerhart got a carry, and he ran for 6 yards to put the Vikes at the 6. Then he caught a pass for 3 yards. At the end Minnesota only got a field goal, but they took the lead.

However, Arizona answered back. Derek Anderson hit Andre Roberts, who made some amazing jukes before landing in the end zone. But once he landed in the end zone, Arizona led 14-10.

On the opening second half kickoff, the Cardinals had good coverage, and they got to Percy Harvin at the 20 yard line. But the play wasn't over; Harvin was stripped of the ball and Michael Adams picked the ball up and ran into the end zone. Arizona was on top 21-10.

Then the Cardinal defense came through, intercepting a goal line pass. And the offense did the same, with Derek Anderson leading Arizona to a field goal. And then the defense held again, knocking down a 4th down goal line pass to end another red zone drive.

But the offense couldn't come through and seal the game. Minnesota got the ball back, and with about 7 minutes left Adrian Peterson rumbled into the end zone. The score was now 24-17, and Minnesota was hungry to add to that.

The defense did their job, stopping Arizona from scoring. Then the offense got the ball back. And they came through. Favre hit Visanthe Shaincoe for a 20 yard TD strike, and the score was 24-24 with only 27 seconds left.

But 27 seconds was still enough time for Arizona to win. However, they couldn't use the time to score, and the game went into OT.

However, Arizona started with the ball in overtime. But as Derek Anderson and the Cardinal offense proved, they can't do much. They went 3 and out and Minnesota got the ball.

And they were on fire. Adrian Peterson got the Vikes into field goal range with a 20 yard run, and then he put the Vikings at the 18. Ryan Longwell booted the GW field goal, and the Vikes stayed in contention for the NFC North.
