Happy New Year; New Year's Eve Bowls

Georgia vs UCF
If teams like UCF and Tulsa keep winning, Conference USA may have to get an upgrade. Last year Houston had success, but East Carolina won the conference title and was a field goal away from beating Arkansas.

And now it's UCF, who has a Liberty Bowl win.

The Knights held on to win a defensive battle, with the final score 10-6. The only touchdown was scored by UCF running back Latavius Murray with 9:01 left, giving UCF the lead for good.

UCF couldn't score on their opening drive, but Georgia got going, driving 95 yards in 15 plays, with QB Aaron Murray going 7/7 and throwing for 53 yards on the drive. Unfortunately for the Dawgs, they started at their own 2, so they were forced to kick a 20 yard field goal. At the end of 1, Georgia led 3-0.

They were looking to build to that in the second quarter, with the ball at the UCF 33, but Reggie Weems intercepted a Murray pass. And UCF seemed to be making use of it, but Brandon Boykin intercepted a Jeff Godfrey pass. However, Josh Linam got back at Georgia with an interception, helping UCF tie the game with a field goal.

Georgia started with the ball in the second half and never put up with a 3rd down until they failed to complete a 3rd down pass. But that didn't matter until later; Blair Walsh drilled a 41 yard field goal to put Georgia on top 6-3. At the end of 3, Georgia led 6-3.

But UCF wasn't done. They started driving into Georgia territory, and Jeff Godfrey converted on 2 3rd downs. On first and goal, Latavius Murray ran up the gut, made a cut towards the left side and found the end zone.

With 2:20 left, Georgia got the ball. On 4th and 8, A.J Green caught a pass. On 4th and 5, Kris Durham caught a 30 yard pass. But after a sack, they were forced to a 4th and 19. Aaron Murray heaved up a pass, and it was knocked down, giving the Knights the win.

USF vs Clemson
B.J Daniels accounted for 3 touchdowns as South Florida held off a Clemson rally to win the Meineke Car Care Bowl 31-26. Clemson scored 2 touchdowns with less than 2 minutes left, making it close. But a penalty on the onside kick ended the game.

An interception set up Clemson's first points, but B.J Daniels responded by finding Demetrius Murray for a touchdown and Quenton Washington's interception set up a field goal to give USF a 10-3 lead.

The Bulls got back into Clemson territory, this time scoring with Dontavio Bogan running a curl, catching a pass, slipping a tackle and giving USF the 17-3 lead. However, Chandler Catanzaro made a field goal, and a USF fumble set up a Jamie Harper TD. However, Clemson QB Kyle Parker was injured on the play before the TD, and he didn't return.

In the 3rd USF got back down to the Clemson 2, where Mo Plancher took it in and gave South Florida a 24-13 lead. Then, JaQuez Jenkins intercepted a Clemson pass and took it to the Clemson 5. After a sack, B.J Daniels took a bootleg, faked a pitch and raced to the house to give USF a 31-13 lead. And with 2 minutes left, the game seemed over.

But Clemson was able to score and recover the onside kick, and before you knew it the game was 31-26. And Clemson recovered the ensuing onside kick, but a little too soon. It didn't go 10 yards yet, and South Florida had escaped.
