Celtics advance to Finals; MLB Update

Miguel Cabrera's 3 homers aren't enough as Landon Powell's homer helps Oakland beat Detroit 5-4.
Manny Ramirez caps 5 run rally with 2 run 6th inning homer to help the LA Dodgers beat the Rockies.
3 run homer helps Washington beat San Diego 5-3, improve to 25-24. San Diego is losing their lead on the NL West.

Celtics vs. Magic
After Orlando gained the momentum back, and once they had everything going, many people thought history was going to be made. But 1 team kept believing.

Who? The Boston Celtics.

Paul Pierce scored 31 and grabbed 13 boards, Nate Robinson scored 13 second quarter points, and the Boston Celtics finished off the Orlando Magic 96-84.

Pierce was key for Boston to hold their big lead, and after Rajon Rondo got injured in the first (he finished the game) Nate Robinson stepped in to score 13 in the second. The C's led 55-42 at halftime.

Ray Allen hit some key threes in the third quarter, and Pierce started making jumpers that kept Boston ahead. Rajon Rondo was back and scoring some points, and Orlando couldn't use their momentum advantage and they just kept even with the Celtics.

Rondo was able to overcome his injury and help keep Boston up by 15 or so, along with Paul Pierce. Orlando fought back inch by inch, but it was too late. The Celtics improved to 8-4 against the NBA's 2 top teams, and they advanced 1 step closer to number 18. The final was 96-84.

A's Fall To White Sox On Walk-Off Home Run

In late innings, the Oakland Athletics are almost unstoppable. However, Jordan Danks found a way to stop the A's. Danks hit a home run to right with two outs in the ninth to propel the White Sox to a 4-3 win over the A's. Both teams are competing in the AL Wild Card race, so the loss is crucial for the A's, who received a solid outing from Brandon McCarthy in his return from the DL. McCarthy allowed three earned runs in six-plus innings pitched, and the two teams were tied after seven innings. Both teams received solid efforts from the bullpen, but the White Sox triumphed at the end. Dayan Viciedo, A.J Pierzynski and Alexi Ramirez also homered, all taking advantage of mistakes by McCarthy. McCarthy gave Ramirez a meatball in the fourth, and he hit it deep to left field. Viciedo and Pierzynski both hit outside pitches into the seats for the White Sox.
