New Year's Eve Bowl games

Armed Forces: Houston vs. Air Force
The triple option rushing attack was too much for Houston as Air Force gained 402 yards on the ground in a 47-20 victory over Houston.

Jared Tew ran for 173 yards and 2 scores, including a 71 yarder. Asher Clark also ran for 129 yards and 36 and 22 yard TD runs.

Tyron Carrier started the second half off with a cutback, 79 yard kickoff return for a score. Jonathan Warzeka of Air Force answered by breaking tackles in his 100 yard kickoff return for a score. 2 kickoff returns for scores in 31 seconds.

Sun: Oklahoma vs. Stanford
Landry Jones threw for 418 yards and 3 TD's, all to Ryan Broyles as Oklahoma defeated Stanford 31-27 in the 76th Brut Sun Bowl.

Broyles kicked his day off with a 30 yard TD reception on 3rd down in double coverage, and he also had TD catches of 13 and 6 yards.

DeMarco Murray flipped into the end zone to put Oklahoma up 31-27 late in the third, but Stanford recovered a punt where Broyles was nailed when catching the punt. Stanford got a FG off of that.

When an easy field goal by Oklahoma was missed, Stanford took over 80 yards from victory. However, on fourth and 2 Stanford failed and Oklahoma capped off a disappointing season off with a Sun Bowl win over 21 Stanford.

Texas: Navy vs. Missouri
Ricky Dobbs led the ttriple option rushing attack and he did it well, rushing for 166 yards and 3 TD's in Navy's 35-13 Texas Bowl win over Missouri.

Missouri struck first with Blaine Gabbert's 58 yard TD pass to Danario Alexander, but then Navy scored on a 1 yard run. After a fumble in the end zone by Navy, Missouri fumbled on the next play and Ricky Dobbs took it in from 12 yards out to make it 14-7 Navy.

Leading 14-10, Ricky Dobbs threw a 3 yard TD to Bobby Doyle. Then, up 21-13 Marcus Curry scored from 11 yards out, and after a stop inside the red zone Ricky Dobbs drove the Midshipmen downfield and he scored from one yard out to put the top on the jar.

Insight: Minnesota vs. Iowa State
The Iowa State defense played great in the red zone and 14-13, Iowa State defeated Minnesota in the Insight Bowl.

Trailing 3-0, Austen Arnaud faked a handoff and scored to put the Cyclones up 7-3 and 4:12 later, Arnaud found Jake Williams deep to put ISU up 14-3.

Minnesota's kicker missed a 35 yard kick, but a screen pass to Nick Tow-Arnett made it 14-10, and a FG made it 14-13. And then the Gophers were driving again.

But on first and 10 at the ISU 18 backup QB Marquis Gray fumbled and Iowa State ran the clock out and won, 14-13.

Chick-Fil-A: Virginia Tech vs. Tennessee
Ryan Williams showed his power by breaking the Virginia Tech freshman rushing record with 117 rushing yards and 2 TD's in Virginia Tech's 37-14 Chick-Fil-A Bowl win over Tennessee.

Williams ran VT down to the Tennessee 1, and then he scored to put them up 7-0 and soon he scored again to make it 14-0. But Montario Hardesty broke a tackle and put the Vols in the EZ, and then with :18 in the second quarter Tennessee scored again.

But Tyrod Taylor found Jarrett Boykin for a 63 yard gain that set the Hokies up for a FG to go into the locker room up 17-14. Ryan Williams then ran for big yardage, including a 21 yard gain that set up Tyrod Taylor's 1 yard TD run.

Tech got a FG, and then David Wilson scored form 3 yards out and on Tennessee's first play from scrimmage, Jomathan Crompton fumbled a VT recovered, setting up a field goal that ended the decade in CFB.

NBA News: Nick Collison's GW FT's power Oklahoma City past Utah to force tie for 8th place in Western Conference. Russell Westbrook threw the ball into Collison's hands after Kevin Durant's missed jumper, and Collison was fouled by Paul Milsap, setting up the GW free throws.

Chris Kaman scored 26 points and grabbed 10 boards as the Clippers improved to 14-18 with a 104-88 win over the 76ers in the NBA's final game of the decade.
