The Return

From second grade to 10th grade, I used sportswriting as a way to keep myself busy after school and as something I could devote my overwhelming energy to. This blog was what excited me more than anything as a kid, but as I got into high school and faced a demanding schedule, I stopped prioritizing this interest and essentially stopped altogether. I would occasionally write an article about sports for my school newspaper, but my passion was no longer the same as I was so caught up in the day-to-day pressure of being a high school student.

Now that I'm off in college, however, I've had some time to reflect on what I truly love as I try to find a passion that I can devote a lot of my time to. I've found myself with a lot of spare time and lacking something that makes me truly excited. I was talking to my girlfriend about this, who told me I should start writing for this blog again because I loved it so much when I was a kid. I first dismissed the idea as childish and pointless, but then realized that writing about sports, even if it was just for fun, made me happier than anything and has the potential to do so many years later.

So, I'm going to be making an effort to write blog posts recapping sports the same way I used to do when I was a kid with slightly higher quality writing. This blog is not meant to be ESPN or Sports Illustrated, but rather it's meant for me to reconnect with what I truly love in my spare time while hopefully producing high-quality sports content.

At the same time, I would of course love to have an engaged audience. If you're reading this, I appreciate your support and would also appreciate if you emailed any content requests or fantasy football questions to Baily.b.deeter.22@dartmouth.edu. I'm currently running a Monday night fantasy football radio show (9-10pm ET on webdcr.com) with a friend, and sadly we're a little short on live callers, questions, and a live audience. It's almost like people don't want to listen to us rant about game script and red-zone playcalling for an hour straight. Weird.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to writing more in the coming weeks, mostly recapping the NFL season. I hope reading these posts brings you as much joy as it brings me to write them.
