Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day Football recap

Charles Woodson has been considered a candidate for the defensive MVP award, and today's performance on Thanksgiving Day will improve his stock. Just another thing Packers fans can be thankful for.

Woodson intercepted 2 passes, and he stepped in front of a Matthew Stafford pass and returned it to the house to seal Green Bay's Thanksgiving Day victory at Detroit to take the lead in the Wild Card Standings.

Aaron Rodgers continued his dominance by throwing for 348 yards and continued his great playing by throwing 3 touchdowns and making some amazing throws, like his bomb to Donald Driver that set up Donald Lee's touchdown.

Donald Driver caught a 73 yard pass that set up the tying score to start the second that made it 7-7, and then up 13-7, Driver caught a 7 yard touchdown where he never lost his focus even after a hand went by the ball. Driver was awarded the Galloping Gobbler award by being the best player in the Thanksgiving Day game.

The Lions have lost their past 6 Thanksgiving Day games and they have been outscored 213-74 since then. The Packers beat them 37-26 in 2007 and 34-12 here, for a total of 71-38. Matthew Stafford threw 4 interceptions, all ones which were the wrong type of pass that were stepped in front of by Trevon Williams, Nick Collins and Charles Woodson twice. 9 points were scored on defense (Packers pick-6 and Lions safety).

The Packers won their 9th straight game over the Lions and they haven't lost since a 17-3 loss on September 10, 2005. The Lions scored first off of Jordy Nelson's fumbled kickoff return and Matthew Stafford's TD pass to Calvin Johnson, but Ryan Grant made some nice catches and got 103 total yards and helped set up 27 unanswered points that led Green Bay by. The Packers are now 7-4 while the Lions fell to 2-9. Green Bay faces Baltimore next Monday at 8:30 PM ET while the Lions take on the Bengals.
