Bears likely headed to Sun Bowl

Prior to the 2009 season, Cal fans said the Sun Bowl was "unacceptable". At this time, apparently they can accept it. With a win over Washington on Saturday, Cal has almost a guaranteed Sun Bowl berth. If Cal and USC win, the Bears can book flights to El Paso. If Arizona upsets USC and Cal wins, Cal might get picked over Arizona to go to the Holiday Bowl. If not, the Sun Bowl would pick them for a New Year's Day game versus probably Oklahoma. The Bears are the only team that has never been to the Sun Bowl, but Cal fans shouldn't get too excited. Their next opponent, Washington, beat USC and Arizona at home and they are coming off of a win over Washington State in the Apple Cup. I think Kevin Riley outplays Jake Locker and Shane Vereen has a big day and Cal will take the Huskies 37-17. SF Giants: Previewing the Giants' Upcoming Series with the Washington Nationals

The  San Francisco Giants  currently lead the NL West by one game, and they've had some tough tests this year. However, the biggest test is yet to come. San Francisco prepares to take on the  Washington Nationals  in a battle of two division leaders. Washington is led by a trio of dominant pitchers and a well-rounded offense, and that's why they lead the league with 71 wins (and just 44 losses). Stephen Strasburg , Gio Gonzalez and Jordan Zimmermann make up the Nationals' dominant pitching trio, and all three will start against the Giants. Zimmermann has the third-best ERA in baseball, Strasburg's ERA is below 3.00, and Gonzalez is among the league leaders in wins (with 14). Luckily for the Giants, three of their best pitchers will take the hill. Madison Bumgarner, Tim Lincecum and Ryan Vogelsong will pitch, and all have had successful careers. The Script - That Is, the Revised Script - Had This Super Bowl Matchup All Along

Screenwriter Goodell has done it again! It's admittedly not the script I saw written in the stars - or rather in the combination of the NFL's Super Bowl logo and a Memphis radio station's (now) false advertising. The best explanation is that not even Goodell could have foreseen the Taylor Swift effect - and called in the cast midseason to push the Chiefs' Super Bowl hangover back one more year at Baltimore's expense. When the Harbaugh family threatened to sue, he called in a favor to the NCAA - and Jalen Milroe - to have Jim pocket the family's due 2023 ring. And then, to give big bro the upper hand, inflicted Jim with the worst curse in all of sports - that of the LA Chargers. Equilibrium is restored. It looked like the revised script was about to bring the 49ers down too in favor of the bookended schedule Super Bowl that Jake Marsh wanted to see so badly - the same kickoff game and championship game matchup.
