San Francisco Giants; New Additions Step Up, Power Giants to Victory

Ryan Vogelsong went 6+ innings and lowered his ERA to 2.19, while improving his record to 9-1. Jason Marquis took the loss in his Diamondback debut.
Brad Ziegler made his Arizona debut, and he gave up a two-run double on his first pitch with his new club. Cody Ross hit that double, and he knocked in three runs.
San Francisco snapped a five-game slide with the win, and they regained first place back. San Francisco now heads into a series with Philadelphia, then against Pittsburgh.
In his debut, Marquis gave up eight runs in 4+ innings, not the way you want to start with your new team. Zach Duke and Brad Ziegler came in and did well, but the Giants 'pen was better.
Guillermo Mota came on with runners on first and second, and he struck out three batters, using his nasty slider and change-up to retire Willie Bloomquist, Collin Cowgill, and Justin Upton.
In the eighth, Mota walked two batters, but struck out three, and Javier Lopez and Sergio Romo finished it out for the Giants.
Promising young D-Backs Collin Cowgill, Paul Goldschmidt, and Cody Ransom started for Arizona. Goldschmidt, who hit his first career home run against Tim Lincecum last night, is very promising, and D-Backs fans hope he can become the next Buster Posey.
