Cal 09 FB Schedule Annunced

The Cal Bears announced there 2009 football schedule yesterday, and here is the schedule.

The 10/10 Washington game was switched to the 5th of December. I think the Bears home game vs. Maryland and road test v. Minnesota will challenge, but I have no idea what is going on with E Wash. Yeah, we can blow them out, but give the team a test. Southern Miss. Notre Dame. Cal shouldn't get into the idea of playing Division II teams. Portland State was O.K in 06, they are good, and so is Eastern Washington, and we beat Portland State 42-16, but don't get into that idea. In the conference schedule, Cal opens @ Oregon in an ABC/ESPN/ESPN2 game, possibly a Gameday game, then another Gameday game chance vs. USC. Then we play in LA at UCLA, where we look to end our LA drought. We then host Wazzou, then have a Halloween date with Arizona State in Tempe. The Bears host 2 of the Pac-10's powerhouse schools on back-to-back Saturday's in Oregon State and Arizona, then play the 112th Big Game @ Stanford and then close at UW in Seattle. Here are my picks:

9 Cal 38 UCLA 17 Bears pull away in 3rd after trailing at the half 14-10, shut down Bruins in the Battle Of The Bear
9 Cal 66 Wazzou 3 Cal O, D shows up in win.
9 Cal 49 Arizona State 21 ASU loses Halloween 1st half dogfight, 2nd half blowout.
9 Cal 52 21 Oregon State 17 Cal offense, Mason passing powers Cal past OSU.
9 Cal 45 19 Arizona 24 AU hangs in the first half, falls apart in the second.
9 Cal 56 Stanford 14 Bears keep axe in Bear powered win where Best runs for 278 yds and 4 scores.
9 Cal 59 Washington 10 Bears blowout Huskies for perfect season.

A's Fall To White Sox On Walk-Off Home Run

In late innings, the Oakland Athletics are almost unstoppable. However, Jordan Danks found a way to stop the A's. Danks hit a home run to right with two outs in the ninth to propel the White Sox to a 4-3 win over the A's. Both teams are competing in the AL Wild Card race, so the loss is crucial for the A's, who received a solid outing from Brandon McCarthy in his return from the DL. McCarthy allowed three earned runs in six-plus innings pitched, and the two teams were tied after seven innings. Both teams received solid efforts from the bullpen, but the White Sox triumphed at the end. Dayan Viciedo, A.J Pierzynski and Alexi Ramirez also homered, all taking advantage of mistakes by McCarthy. McCarthy gave Ramirez a meatball in the fourth, and he hit it deep to left field. Viciedo and Pierzynski both hit outside pitches into the seats for the White Sox. Taking My Talents Back to Baily's Sports and Stuff...And My Thoughts on Al Davis vs the NFL

I've recently gotten captivated by the practice of journaling - generally on my own thoughts that I notice and how I feel at various moments. This has been a transformative practice in my personal life in enabling me to be more honest with myself (which is really hard!) - whether that be about discomfort I feel, what conditions provide a state of flow, or anything in between. The ability to document my life on paper - and go back and read what resonated with me at a particular point in time - has been a similarly great practice for me. Recently, the excitement of playoff football and midseason basketball has led to me pursuing a similar practice in my personal journal - airing out thoughts on sports ranging from stats I've tried to memorize to my (often unwanted) psychological analysis on a given athlete / situation.
